There’s definitely visible nail line, which is business-as-usual for a jelly finish. I swatched with two coats, and I did experiment with a third, but the nail line was still rather visible so if you wanted more opaque color, you’d have to use a base polish first. It has the lovely, squishy quality of jellies, though, but it absolutely needs a top coat to retain that shiny finish. Without a top coat, it dries down to a semi-matte finish, and it seemed to dry a bit faster than other shades in the collection. Application was also more on par with the quality I expect from China Glaze! Ride the Waves applied easily, evenly, and fluidly without bubbling or pooling along the sides. The formula wasn’t too thick or too thin. I typically get a week of wear out of China Glaze’s formula with no chipping but minor tip wear.
It's not quite neon, so it's not a perfect fit with the rest of the Summer Neons collection, but it still has a good level of brightness that's not blinding. If you like jellies, you'll appreciate the finish of this one.

It was fully opaque after two coats, though the consistency was surprisingly on the thick side (as were many of the shades from this collection–at least the ones I’ve swatched so far). Not so thick that it’s really gloppy and unmanageable, but thick enough where you do have to be more concerned about pooling around the edges. I didn’t experience it with this shade, partially because I was more aware of the potential for it. It took a bit longer than average for each coat to dry, and I really recommend waiting between coats to avoid drag.
The polish could use a little thinner, I think, or else be very careful with how thick each coat is! It's very bright and perfect for summer, though there were some noticeable brush strokes under really bright light.

Beach Cruise-r is fully opaque after two medium-thick (not too thick, not too thin) coats of polish. The formula on this one was better than Splish Splash, as it wasn’t as thick. It flowed easily across the nail during application, which resulted in a bubble/pooling-free experience. It dries to a semi-matte finish, so you’ll want a good top coat if you prefer a shiny finish. The drying time was about average, though I’d say considerably shorter than a lot of neon polishes (which always seem to dry quickly).
It’s a really fun pop of pink for summer that’s very cool-toned but so bright that the undertone doesn’t matter, because it’ll contrast nicely against all skin tones, light to dark, cool to warm. Beach Cruise-r has a color that’s perfect for summer with its near-neon vibrancy and subtle shimmer.

China Glaze Splish Splash Nail Lacquer ($6.49 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “bright sky blue shimmer.” This is a brightened medium sky blue with fine, pale white-blue shimmer. It’s a very swimming pool-inspired blue, I’d say. It’s not quite bright enough to be called a neon, but it’s certainly not subdued. I thought this would be readily duped, but out of all these blues, nothing came close enough. At a glance, China Glaze Blue Iguana seemed like a possibility, but upon closer inspection, it’s much, much darker, and it has purple shimmer. I’d love to hear from you if you have any dupe possibilities!
The color was opaque after two coats, but the formula was on the thicker side, so I actually had some pooling polish along the edges of the nail. I haven’t had this issue very often, so I’ll clarify so we’re all on the same page: I’m certain there’s a textbook definition of “pooling,” but here goes: when the polish seems to gather along the edges of the nail, so it looks thick and rounded. A good visual is thinking of slime or sludge as it covers more and more surface area. It’s not a good thing. I did two coats for swatches, and it took a long time for the initial coat to dry enough to apply the second coat, and a surprisingly long time for it to dry after that. Neon shades typically dry incredibly quickly, but this one took its sweet time. Once it did, it did dry to a mostly matte finish–you’ll want a really shiny top coat to get a glossy finish (I used Seche Vite).
The polish is too thick, so it ends up pooling during application. The application is more difficult and takes some maneuvering and very careful strokes to ensure you get an even, workable coat.
