Benefit Nude Swings Longwear Powder Eyeshadow

Benefit Nude Swings Longwear Powder Eyeshadow
Benefit Nude Swings Longwear Powder Eyeshadow

Benefit Nude Swings Longwear Powder Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “rose gold.” It’s a warm beige with a hint of peach and a champagne sheen. I expect that it may look more like a rose gold, as listed, on those with pink undertones–against my warmer undertones, it loses the pink, but I do see a pink tinge to the color when I look at it in the pan. Cinderella Midnight Hour is less metallic and slightly pinker. L’Oreal Blinged & Brilliant is very similar but more metallic. MAC Naked Lunch is less metallic.

It had good pigmentation, though it could have been a bit denser and more buttery, so it could be a more versatile shade. As is, it forms a very thin layer that is mostly opaque. It does apply smoothly and evenly, and it sits nicely on the skin. It’s not quite metallic, but it has a high sheen to its finish, so it works well to brighten lids.
The color payoff is decent but not fully opaque. It had a slightly drier texture compared to other shades I’ve reviewed from the range, so it doesn’t apply as smoothly. It is, however, still soft to the touch and easy to blend out on the lid. When I wore Nude Swings, it lasted for seven hours well but was slightly faded and starting to crease after eight hours (no primer).

And good (bad?) news–this shade doesn’t appear to be included in any of Benefit’s World Famous Neutrals’ palettes, so it is only available individually.

Benefit Blingo Longwear Powder Eyeshadow

Benefit Blingo Longwear Powder Eyeshadow
Benefit Blingo Longwear Powder Eyeshadow

Benefit Blingo Longwear Powder Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “brilliant silver.” It’s a medium, silver-gray with a frosted, metallic finish. Silver eyeshadows are abundant, so there are numerous shades to choose from. The two closest were Urban Decay Oz (slightly darker) and L’Oreal Primped & Precious (more metallic).

The color payoff is decent but not fully opaque. It had a slightly drier texture compared to other shades I’ve reviewed from the range, so it doesn’t apply as smoothly. There was also a slight grittiness to the color; almost as if it had larger sparkle, which contributed to how it applied.  I did find that Blingo was still blendable on the lid, and though it had its share of problems, performed well enough over a base.  I was less enthused with it on its own, as it creased after seven hours (and these are Longwear eyeshadows).

For reference, it also appears in Benefit’s Sexiest Nudes Ever Palette–I make a point to mention that, because the palette itself is $30 but contains three other eyeshadows along with two Creaseless Cream Eyeshadows; more or less, unless you really hate the other products, it’s hard to justify $20 for one eyeshadow when you could be paying $30 and receiving six different products.

Benefit Quick, Look Busy Longwear Powder Eyeshadow

Benefit Quick, Look Busy Longwear Powder Eyeshadow
Benefit Quick, Look Busy Longwear Powder Eyeshadow

Benefit Quick, Look Busy Longwear Powder Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “matte espresso.” It’s a dark, subtly red-toned brown with a matte finish. MAC Carbonized is similar in color, but it is frosted. bareMinerals Foreshadow is cooler-toned. MAC Swiss Chocolate is warmer. MAC Brown Down is very comparable. Inglot #329 is less red-toned. Make Up For Ever #162 has a stronger red undertone.

The texture was soft, slightly powdery, and the resulting color payoff was just so-so to decent. It was semi-opaque when I initially swatched, and then when I tried applying it to the lid, it was more buildable. It’s very blendable, though, and it is easy to sheer out and harder to keep at full coverage on the lid–you have to be very precise and only blend around the outer edges of the color. It was noticeably faded after seven hours, but I didn’t experience any creasing without a primer.

For reference, it also appears in Benefit’s Easiest Nudes Ever Palette–I make a point to mention that, because the palette itself is $30 but contains three other eyeshadows along with two Creaseless Cream Eyeshadows; more or less, unless you really hate the other products, it’s hard to justify $20 for one eyeshadow when you could be paying $30 and receiving six different products.

Benefit It’s Complicated Longwear Powder Eyeshadow

Benefit It's Complicated Longwear Powder Eyeshadow
Benefit It’s Complicated Longwear Powder Eyeshadow

Benefit It’s Complicated Longwear Powder Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “golden peach.” It’s a warm-toned, medium pinky-peach with a gold shimmer-sheen finish. Chanel Complice has no golden shimmer. MAC Say Yeah is darker. Urban Decay Freebird is pinker. Lancome Kitten Heel has the golden sheen but is pinker. MAC Expensive Pink is darker, redder.

The pigmentation of this shade was on the weaker side, and I found that at best, I could build up the color to semi-opaque but it wanted to be semi-sheer to semi-opaque. It’s disappointing, because most of the shades that are similar tended to be darker, so this would have offered a subtler way to achieve the color–and on cooler skintones, would be less prone to looking orange. It’s Complicated had a soft texture that was finely-milled and was easy to blend out on the lid. It lasted seven hours well on me, but after nine hours, I did see some faint creasing.

For reference, it also appears in Benefit’s Most Glamorous Nudes Ever Palette–I make a point to mention that, because the palette itself is $30 but contains three other eyeshadows along with two Creaseless Cream Eyeshadows; more or less, unless you really hate the other products, it’s hard to justify $20 for one eyeshadow when you could be paying $30 and receiving six different products.

Benefit Gilt-y Pleasure Longwear Powder Eyeshadow

Benefit Gilt-y Pleasure Eyeshadow
Benefit Gilt-y Pleasure Eyeshadow

Benefit Gilt-y Pleasure Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “golden sand.” It’s a warm-toned, orange-gold with a metallic finish. Tarte Canary Diamond is a bit more orange and darker. Chanel Vision is more metallic and sparkly but similar in color. L’Oreal Eternal Sunshine is yellower. Dior Night Golds #4 is less metallic. Milani Drenched in Gold is very similar in color but more frosted in finish.

It had good color payoff (but was just short of perfection), but the real wonder was the texture:  so soft and smooth.  It really applied well and went on smoothly and adhered to the lid for a whopping ten hours without fading or creasing. Gilt-y Pleasure blended out easily when I worked with it.  The brighter, warmer coloring paired with the high-shine finish makes it work well to brighten and open up the eyes (particularly on warmer skin tones).

Benefit Kiss Me, I’m Tipsy Longwear Powder Shadow

Benefit Kiss Me, I'm Tipsy Longwear Powder Shadow
Benefit Kiss Me, I’m Tipsy Longwear Powder Shadow

Benefit Kiss Me, I’m Tipsy Longwear Powder Shadow ($20.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “spiced brown.” It’s a warm-toned, medium-dark brown with a satin finish. Benefit Dandy Brandy is more frosted but the colors are very similar. NARS Surabaya #1 is darker. Guerlani Turandot #4 is darker and more red-toned. MAC Mulch is a touch more shimmery. If you have the Most Glamorous Nudes palette, you’ll find this shade is included in it (and the palette is $30 and includes 4x 0.04 oz. eyeshadows plus 2x 0.11 oz. Creaseless Cream eyeshadows).

This shade had excellent pigmentation, and the texture was lovely–soft, smooth, and finely-milled. It blended beautifully and easily on the lid, and there was no powderiness despite it having such a soft feel. It wore just over eight hours on me (no primer) without fading or creasing but there was some faint fading after nine hours.  It’s definitely a standout shade within the range, though you may have something similar to it already.
