Build a Quad: “Island Paradise”
Island Paradise is very similar to The Tropics, except it takes it to the next level–brighter, bolder–with the addition of two permanent, but PRO-only eyeshadow shades. I thought it might be nice to give you a more over-the-top kind of tropical eye.
This quad includes: MAC Bright Sunshine eyeshadow (bright yellow), MAC Bio-Green eyeshadow (bright medium green), MAC Freshwater eyeshadow (bright medium blue), and MAC Shimmermoss eyeshadow (shimmery teal). You could also swap out Freshwater and bring in Electric Eel for an even brighter blue.
A few combinations to try with this…
- Bright Sunshine all over lid, Bio-Green in the outer crease and lid, highlighter on brow
- Bright Sunshine on inner third of the lid, Bio-Green on the middle of lid, Freshwater on the outer third, Shimmermoss in the crease, highlighter on brow
- Bio-Green on the inner half of the lid, Shimmermoss on the outer half of the lid, Freshwater in the crease, highlighter on brow
- Bright Sunshine all over lid, Bio-Green in the outer crease and lid, Freshwater in the crease, highlighter on brow
A few looks I’ve done that can be replicated with these shades…
Build a Quad is a feature focusing on creating different eyeshadow palettes that are both beautiful and functional using permanent shades of eyeshadow. We invite readers to suggest their own build-a-quads — just leave your ideas in the comments! Don’t forget to name your quad! :)

Those are gorgeous colours! Is Bio-Green similar to Swimming at all? From the swatch, I wasn’t sure if Bio-Green is similar or if it has some gold in it compard to Swimming.

It’s brighter, more of a yellow-y green, IMO.

Intense quad! I do have them all though, might be fun to play with more tropical looks. It’s hard because I try to go *reasonably* conservative at my office job – occasionally I’ll wear a bright look on a day when I know I’ll just be doing clerical stuff in my office, but mostly I do neutrals with a little pop of color here and there.
My staple quad, which sounds boring but can actually be very pretty and very useful, is Blanc Type, Kid, Brun, and Shroom. Since you’re in the habit of naming quads, I’ve picked up and started calling it “Neutrally Beautiful” (yeah, I’m a dork for puns – sorry! :)) The basic look is Blanc Type on lid, Kid on outer lid and crease, a touch of Brun in the crease, and of course Shroom to highlight, but you can do a variety of slightly browner, darker looks with it too!

Very bright, but it looks lovely together……….. I’m afraid I’m more of a natural shades girl…… But I do like the Freshwater, maybee I can pair it with a natural shade.
Keep up the good work with the quads ;-)

At the risk of sounding teenage and banal, I would love to build a “Twilight” quad! There is a breakdown on makeup411 and the three eyshadows mentioned are Wedge, Girlie and Blanc Type. I would love some ideas for a fourth and some nice combinations. This is going to be a Christmas present for my sister, who is a huge Twilight fan. I was thinking maybe Expensive Pink? Or even Mythology? Though neither of those are matte. Or perhaps Shadowy Lady, to darken the eye a bit more? Hmmmm…

I’d probably go for Brun for a brown or Sketch for more of a purple shade!
