Bright Makeup: Yellow, Orange, & Red
Does anyone else find it hard to get back into the swing of things? Whenever there’s been a disruption to my usual day-to-day routine (traveling for business, vacation, getting too sick to move, etc.), I just find it so difficult to fall back into my schedule! Grrr!
I’ll be heading over to MAC once they open (boo, being on the west coast!) to pick up the four missing items from Liberty of London and will update the review once I’ve done that. Who else is visiting their local MAC to grab some Liberty of London goodies?
You will need the following…
- Eyes: Sugarpill Goldilux ChromaLust (metallic gold base), Sugarpill Buttercupcake Eyeshadow (primary yellow), Sugarpill Flamepoint Eyeshadow (bright orange), Sugarpill Love+ Eyeshadow (nearly matte red), MAC Femme-fi Eyeshadow (neutral highlighter), Urban Decay Lucky 24/7 Liner (copper), MAC Plushlash Mascara (black)
- Face: Korres Tinted Moisturizer (Honey)
- Cheeks: MAC Prim & Proper Blush (soft pink-nude), Laura Mercier Polished Radiant Creme Cheek Colour (champagne-pink highlighter)
- Lips: MAC Ever Hip Lipstick (orange-peach), MAC True Babe Lipglass (bright pink)
- Brushes: 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 116 (dense blush brush), 188 (small stippling brush)
- Substitutes: Femme-fi = Shroom; Prim & Proper = Tenderling, Ever Hip = Ravishing; True Babe = Pink Poodle
For eyes, start by applying Goldilux as your eyeshadow base with the 239 and water-based mixing medium (or water). Using the 239, apply Buttercupcake eyeshadow on the inner third of the eyelid. Next, apply Flamepoint eyeshadow on the middle third of the eyelid and lightly blend with the inner corner. Darken the outer third of the lid with Love+ eyeshadow with the 239, gently brushing it into the lower crease. Lightly blend Love+ eyeshadow, with the 239, on the outer corner and lid. Lightly tap and brush Flamepoint eyeshadow directly above the crease to soften. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Femme-fi eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Lucky eyeliner on the lower lash line. Finish by sweeping lashes with Plushlash mascara.
For cheeks, apply Prim & Proper blush to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116. Highlight cheeks with Polished cheek colour with the 188 for a soft sheen.
For lips, apply Ever Hip lipstick first, and then layer True Babe lipglass for a complementing lip.

this makeup makes your eyes pop!!! looks great on you!!! great way to do such a bright makeup... must try
Not usually a fan of such bright colours, but this reminds me of sexy Spanish women with pulled back hair, beautiful dresses and a lot of sensual dancing and red wine. I would look terrible with this, but it really does suit you. Beautiful indeed. I think a lipstick with a more orangy hue would also suit these eyes well, yes?
P.S. I never would have thought to pair that sort of light pinky liipstick and gloss with those eyeshadows but it goes really well together. I normally wear coral or light peach colours with yellow and orange eyeshadows but I think the pink lipstick you used works with the eye look perfectly and stops it from looking too orange.
I find lightly coraled pinks can work well with brighter orange/yellows but still give a little contrast, too!
I love this look! I really like the addition of the red on the outer lid and crease - it gives it this really cool sunburst, fire like look. I don't have any Sugarpill products but I might try this with some Mac ones like Chrome Yellow, Orange and either Hot Hot Hot or Coppering.
Hey Christine - question about the Yellow. How does it compare to MAC's super bright matte yellow (can't remember the name)? This one looks so much more vibrant than the MAC one I have, so I'm thinking of buying it from Sugarpill. Let me know what you think! -A
I went to my MAC counter this morning (in the rain) just to get my hands on the things I wanted from the new collection, and they didn't have it! Last week they said they'd be getting it in today, but this morning they told me that they're a week behind on everything. They just got the Too Fabulous collection. I was so disappointed. :(
This look reminds me of one of those rocket frozen pops! Christine, I would love to see you with curly hair one day! You would look gorgeous ;D
Beautiful look, Christine; I love the colors on you- you pull them off wonderfully. However, I can't help but notice that most of your looks tend to be the same in terms of application; the only thing you change is the colors.
This is my style, you could say :) I do my makeup very much on what I like not necessary trying to be different or trying something new for the sake of it.
I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THIS LOOK! Perfect for spring/summer. Thanks for introducing me to Sugarpill Christine.
Ooh, sunset! :] These warm looks look really great on you, by the by. Very interesting to see how you made the bright pink gloss work over a peach lipstick, and then made that work with the eyes. Good job!
Love the lips, but not the red eyes. Looks good in close up, but not the whole face pictures. Beautifully applied, as always though, just bit too red imo.
thank you so so so much for this look! I'm starting to save up now...LOVE IT! You are such a beautifully amazing woman and I love everything you do, keep it up :D
Love Ever Hip on you! I had a small Give Me Liberty haul...Ever Hip l/s, Blooming Lovely l/s and Soft Shell b/p. I was so disappointed when I got home b/c my Ever Hip had been set off center inside the tube and got totally mangled when I twisted it up. Luckily, I went back and they gave me a new one :D
And yes, I will be making a return visit to the Pro-store this Saturday. I just wish that they weren't in the Marina -bit of a hassle driving into. I'm hoping to stick to the Blue India nail polish and maybe a blush.
