Bobbi Brown’s Shimmering Nudes Palette ($50.00) is BB’s latest palette launch.テあ For the past months, I have seen and played with many of her palettes (it seems like every collection is bound to have some sort of coordinating palette!).テあ On the whole, I haven’t been terribly impressed.テあ I admit I like bold colors and rich pigmentation, so naturally Bobbi Brown isn’t a brand that has “TEMPTALIA” written all over it.テあ Knowing this allows me to better appreciate the brand and its products for what they are.
With all that said, this is my favorite Bobbi Brown palette I’ve reviewed and seen to date.テあ Seven shades of soft neutrals ranging from pearlized shimmer wash to metallics.テあ It also comes with an eyeshadow/eyeliner brush (but who really cares?); the brush is workable, but I’d only use it in a pinch myself.テあ So why is it my favorite?テあ There is a nice level of color richness to the shades in this palette; I can see myself creating several glorious neutral and nude eyes using it.テあ (Of course, I have to remember to pull it out, so it might not actually happen…)
The shades you’ll find are:テあ Nude Beach (metallic), Nude Mist (shimmer wash), Naked, Nude Glow (metallic), Mica (shimmer wash), Nude Spice (metallic), and Espresso eyeshadows.テあ And you know what you don’t find?テあ Lip colors.テあ FANTASTIC!テあ The reason I say this is I hate getting eyeshadow residue on my lip colors (or anything creamy).テあ The other part is I’m not a huge fan of lip palettes, because I don’t like to use fingers, only lip brushes, with them aka pain in the rear.
So if you are looking for a good neutral eye palette, you really should head down to your local Bobbi Brown counter and check this baby out.テあ It will definitely suit your needs, methinks!
See swatches…

Hmm, I looked at this palette and thought ‘BORING’ but the swatches look quite soft and pretty. I don’t know if I need that may nudes but I’ll take a closer look at it in person :)

LOL! They’re “boring” colors in one sense, though – but sometimes I prefer that look, ha.

I’ve been wanting to get this but most of the colors just look the same to me for some reason =/

Aww :( They’re similar, but I did find these a good mix for the palette.

I ordered this palette as soon as it showed up on the BB website and LOVE it! I think the only other palette of hers that I like better is the Stonewashed Nudes, but unfortunately I don’t have that one.

Oh this looks gorgeous! I adore neutral colours and I was considering this when I saw it at my local Macy’s, but remembered the relatively dismal nude palette that you last did a review on.
Do you think these would be okay for darker skintones? I’m an NC30-ish in MAC foundations, and unfortunately a lot of “neutral” colours tend to look sort of chalky on me. I might just head over to an MAC Pro store and make a custom palette instead, with colours that I know will show up well on my skin. What do you think?

I think they would be fine. I’m NC30 myself, and they look nice on me!
But a custom palette isn’t a bad way to go either, since you can really make sure all the colors are perfect!

How similar is this to the Chocolate palette? I love BB palettes for work looks, because they’re easy and neutral, but I hate to get this one if it’s similar to one I already own.

To be honest, I don’t really remember the Chocolate palette :(

I already have lots of MAC neutral eyeshadows but I’m tempted to get this! What would you say would be MAC dupes for these colours?

I was going to ask the same question, because I own some neutral / brown colors and I don’t want to spend my budget for a palatte with similar colors, when I can rebuild it with my maccies.

Hey girls!
So in my opinion, mac dupes or as close as we can get from the perm line for include:
from the right in the palette photo:
first=espresso (duh ;-P )
second= girlie
third= naked lunch
fourth= shroom
fifth= malt
sixth= vapour (???)
seventh= hush or jest
hope that helps!

Leah, this is really great :)

Hmm, MAC doesn’t really offer neutrals in the same vein as BB. You could use colors like Shroom, Ricepaper, Grain, Texture, etc. to get close, though. It’s really just about putting together a palette of very natural colors. You can definitely do it through MAC!
