sadly i don’t see a lot of my favorite products in their best list except for nars blushes and philosophy’s amazing grace. a lot either don’t work for me ie. bare essentials or just not that interested in because they’re just so so. or i like the brand but a different item like urban decay 24/7 eyeliners.

  2. NARS blushes and gloss (and eyeshadows for that matter), Philosophy’s Purity cleanser, Shu curler, UD primer potion, Fekkai Glossing Cream and the Shisheido’s sunscreen are all regulars of mine. I am not at all interested in trying BE items. Have tried Smashbox cream liners but prefer Fluidlines.

Good grief, is it just me, or does this list never change? I’ve tried a lot of the stuff up there, but none are staples. Purity Made Simple just does nothing for me, nor does Hope in a Jar; I tried really hard to like them, too!

    • I’ve been using Purity Made Simple, it hasn’t done anything bad to my skin yet!

I guess when you LOVE a product, you always love it, you know? My staple list doesn’t change too much from year to year either. I do think it’d be cool to do best of that came out this year, or at least MORE newer products.

I didn’t know Light Blue by D & G was made for girls? My friend just bought it for himself… I wonder how I missed it.

  5. I hate bare escentuals! NOOOO! I’m allergic to it! lol I do love Nars blushes though ; )

    • lol! A lot of people are. It is funny – you have a ton who swear by it, but then a whole slew of others who adore mineral makeup, just by any brand BUT BE.

hey chris do you agree with the best of 2008? is there anything youve tried that you think shouldnt be on there? and is there anything youve tried that made the list and you love?

    • There’s not much on here that I’ve loved, and to be honest, I haven’t tried many that are listed, LOL.

UD 24/7 Liners should have made the list! NARS’ skincare is phenom, too.

HAHA the only one of these products I have is the benefit blush/bronzers haha!

  8. Rae

I have/had the following and here’s my opinion on them:
Urban Decay primer – can’t live without!
Smashbox primer – also can’t live without!
DiorShow mascara – I prefer the Dior Iconic mascara
philosophy purity and hope in a jar – cleared my skin for about 1 week and then made me break out like crazy for a couple months =(
Shu Uemura curler – can’t live without!

Has anyone tried the Laura Mercier Mineral Powder?? I heard that its supposed to be better than Bare Escentuals…

    • michelle

I am currently using the Laura Mercier Minerals Collection.

I debated whether or not to get this vs. Bare Escentuals but I’m happy with my purchase.

The best option for me was to schedule an appt to have an associate help me out in picking the right color / foundation. I have oily skin and semi acne prone. The guy who did my makeup indicated that the LM Minerals collection was the best way to go for oily skin. Also, I wanted matte coverage, as I don’t like my skin to be shiny looking so that was another reason to choose this line. I learned that you can control the amount of coverage you want with the Mineral Powder.

The purchase turned out pricey for me because I ended up getting the mineral primer, mineral powder & translucent mineral powder plus I got the brushes for each. But I like it, I like the coverage & I like that I can control the amount of powder coverage on my skin. It doesnt look cakey in my opinion, after application, nor does it look like you piled on loads of makeup.

The one thing I want to get is the Secret Camouflage concealer because it truly covered the spots I have on my face. The associate showed me how to blend the two colors contained in the compact to achieve the best coloring. But in addition to that I would have to buy another brush. So I’m saving for that.

I wanted to try Bare Escentuals but I wasn’t sure of the reaction to my skin. I’ve heard a mix of good and bad things so I opted to go for something I could actually try at a department store.

      Hope that helps.

    • DiorShow flaked on me! What makes Iconic better, Rae?

  9. I wear Philosophy’s amazing grace like everyday!
