Benefit Smokin’ Eyes for Easy Smokey Eyes

Date: Friday, May 22nd, 2009 Author:

Benefit Smokin’ Eyes ($36.00) is an all-in-one palette to give you sexy, smoky eyes in no time. It contains three eyeshadows, black eye liner, brightener, two brushes, mini tweezers, and then instructions. The palette is housed in traditional Benefit packaging (cardboard/paper), which I can appreciate for its earth-friendliness. What I like most about this palette is the inclusion of eye liner, brow wax, and the mini tweezers. Those mini tweezers can really come in handy, actually! The brightener can be essential for those of us who aren’t getting quite as much sleep as we’d like, too.

There is a light pink highlighter, a soft gray with shimmer, and a deeper, gray-brown base shade. The eye liner is pretty black, surprisingly, and the brushes are average. I’ve never found palette brushes to be particularly noteworthy; they usually get the job done in a pinch, but they’re not brushes I’d use by choice. The instructions are a nice touch for those who are not so makeup-savvy. So, this makes a great gift to give to the new beauty fan or to someone in need of an all-in-one palette for special occasions.

Love this. The colors are very pretty.

My only concern would be the shadow fall out getting into the eybrow wax & brightener. Plus I’m not fond of white/pink brighteners. The shadow colours are lovely however.

Such an adorable gift or travel item!

The concept is cute but I don’t like grey smokey eyes: it looks washed out on me. I do mine with a warm base (mac omega), I add mac carbon and highlight with mac brule. I made a little quad with all this (adding Mac après-ski on the empty hole) and here’s my home made little kit. :) Plus those little kits made by benefit are always so pricey so so few product in it!
    BTW I love your blog!

I’d love those brushes for starters, and that pencil looks like it’d be to die for. I think I heard someone talking about this actual kit locally, from what I hear it’s more of a deal than buying individuals from MAC or simply anywhere else.

It might be! You’ll likely never need a whole pan of anything (or there are very few shadows you’d ever need the entire container of), so it’s not a bad deal.

The brown pan next to the eye brightener is a brow powder, right?

I have this set and it’s absolutely amazing. It’s really handy as I’m not the most make up savvy person in the world! I love how it comes with eyebrow wax as well, as defining eyebrows defines the eyes! Overall an amazing product and anyone who is thinking of buying it should! It’s totally worth the money!
