Benefit It's Complicated Longwear Powder Eyeshadow
Benefit It’s Complicated Longwear Powder Eyeshadow

Benefit It’s Complicated Longwear Powder Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “golden peach.” It’s a warm-toned, medium pinky-peach with a gold shimmer-sheen finish. Chanel Complice has no golden shimmer. MAC Say Yeah is darker. Urban Decay Freebird is pinker. Lancome Kitten Heel has the golden sheen but is pinker. MAC Expensive Pink is darker, redder.

The pigmentation of this shade was on the weaker side, and I found that at best, I could build up the color to semi-opaque but it wanted to be semi-sheer to semi-opaque. It’s disappointing, because most of the shades that are similar tended to be darker, so this would have offered a subtler way to achieve the color–and on cooler skintones, would be less prone to looking orange. It’s Complicated had a soft texture that was finely-milled and was easy to blend out on the lid. It lasted seven hours well on me, but after nine hours, I did see some faint creasing.

For reference, it also appears in Benefit’s Most Glamorous Nudes Ever Palette–I make a point to mention that, because the palette itself is $30 but contains three other eyeshadows along with two Creaseless Cream Eyeshadows; more or less, unless you really hate the other products, it’s hard to justify $20 for one eyeshadow when you could be paying $30 and receiving six different products.

I wish this shade had better color payoff--it's hard to build up the color on the lid, unfortunately. It also creased on me, so it's not as long-wearing as it should be.

    Hi Christine,
How does this compare to Urban Decay X?
    Thanks!

I’m not loving the design! It reminds me of an old birth control pill package I used years ago!

I agree. I don’t know why Benefit changed their packaging. I thought the eye shadows with the white birds on them were much prettier. This design is a bit of a turnoff. Not to mention, $20 for one eye shadow is a lot!

OMG- yes! I’m not a fan of the new packaging.

  4. I’d use it an accent color or highlight shade, but not as eyeshadow on it’s own. I think it would disappear on me.

Am I the only one who feels that the vast majority of these eyeshadows are warm toned? :( We cool toned people exist, too!

I have to agree the packaging is just cheap looking, I loved their old packaging. I was hoping this would be like their old shadow in nice melons but with the packaging and the price increase I wouldn’t buy it even if it was the same

  7. I wish Benefit had more wackier, less neutral eyeshadow colors in their lineup.

A nice shade for summer I think, just to add a little bit of colour and shine all ovet the lids :)
Isn’t it similar to Inglot 407 eyeshadow ? I can tell by Your pictures it is, but i’m not sure.
