Benefit Fancy Pansy Eyeshadow
Benefit Fancy Pansy Eyeshadow
Benefit Fancy Pansy Eyeshadow ($18.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as an “orchid silk.” It’s a cool-toned, pink-lavender with a pale, iridescent lilac shimmer-sheen. At first glance, it seems like it might be like shades such as MAC Stars ‘n Rockets, but it’s much, much lighter with less of a duochrome; it’s more like the iridescence of those types of shades without the strong fuchsia base. Inglot #346 is a matte version of this shade. Milani Royalty is the closest dupe I found.
It has a silky smooth texture, and the powder is finely-milled. It’s not powdery but so soft that it makes blending a breeze. The powder feels dense and buttery, so it delivers good color payoff without having to pack it on. Compared to other shades in the range, this one is just a tiny bit under-pigmented but that’s being nit picky. Velvet Eyeshadows wear well, too, without fading during the day and no fall out occurs. Another nice thing about the range is that they’re twice the size of most eyeshadows. Fancy Pansy pairs well with darker purples, whether blue or red-based, along with navy blues.
Where to Buy: Benefit, $18
The Glossover
Benefit's Velvet Eyeshadows seem underrated or under-appreciated, because I think it's a really solid range, but I don't feel like I see people raving about these! They're double the size of typical eyeshadows with good color payoff and an amazing texture.

Any dupes?

This is so strange--I was just reading through your past Benefit reviews a couple nights ago, and now you're reviewing this again! ha ha.
Very pretty, though I think I have a shade from Lorac that's almost an exact dupe. I'll have to check it when I get home.
Ooh, this looks like the old formulation of Urban Decay's Asphyxia, before it got sheerer and more blue! Anyone else remember that? So pretty!
YES. I have the old one!! I try not to use it often because I know when it runs out that I won't like the new formula as much!
I have this shadow, but I use it as a highlighter on my cheeks. It's perfect for the face. The only thing I don't like about it is that powder goes EVERYWHERE when I dip my brush in. I don't know if it's because of how soft the shadow is, but it's rather annoying. I feel like I'm wasting product.
So pretty! Pro-tip, if you haven't heard of it yet: put it over a black base! The duochrome effect is quite beautiful.
I have Gimme Some Plum and I love it! It's a nice purple for Hazel eyes :) I might have to try this one too.
This is very lovely, and reminds me of an old Clinic shade I used to use. You have to be careful with this shadow if you have dark under-eye circles (like me) because it will bring those out, even with concealer on (somehow!).
I've also wondered why there isn't a lot of buzz surrounding these eyeshadows. I bought one in Leggy about a year ago and I LOVE it. The color and texture are great.
Lol why would you redo all of your previous reviews? I actually thnk they're well written just like all the rest reviews you have done (;.. Hm, back to the shadow; i actually did like it though i tend to only like super pigmented shadows.. It's a nice colour if you're looking for a wearable purple shade
The photos are poor, the reviews are not as detailed and the rating system isn't the same - there's not much I like about them. If I could delete the first 3-4 years, I would, but I recognize that that is something I just have to deal with!
Your website has evolved over time, for the better! Don't regret all the fabulous content you've given us.
This seems very like urban decay axphixia (sic) if anyone is interested in checking out - also a pretty good, wearable shade!
The first thing I thought was Asphyxia! It is more pink like Christine said(looking at other swatches), but on my nc45ish skin it looks exactly like her swatch of fancy pansy.
That's a really pretty lilac shade. I just prefer palette's because those are easier to travel with.
