bareMinerals The Nude Beach Eyeshadow Palette
bareMinerals The Nude Beach Eyeshadow Palette

bareMinerals The Nude Beach Eyeshadow Palette ($40.00 for 0.24 oz.) contains eight shades that were inspired by shades in bareMinerals’ loose eyeshadow range, and with the name, you can see that it’s a neutral-based palette. The quality is good overall, but the palette contains a lot of mid-tone eyeshadows, and I found myself really longing for one or two medium-dark to dark, satin-to-matte shades that would work to add more depth to any look. It is also a warm-toned palette, which there are many of on the market nowadays, so while lovely in many ways, it is ultimately a more dupable palette. I love the size of this style of palette that bareMinerals does, because each eyeshadow still has plenty of product (0.03 oz.), but they’re very compact and perfect for traveling. bareMinerals’ Ready eyeshadow formula is supposed to wear for 12 hours, yield “vivid, pure, provocative color,” and “resist creasing, fading, and smudging.”

Tan Lines is described as a “dark peach copper.” It’s a medium, warm-toned copper with a frosted finish. It’s not quite as overtly orange-toned, so it has a better balance of red and orange, which gives it a slightly muted quality. The texture was soft, smooth, and buttery with excellent color payoff and application. It wore well for eleven hours on me. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Nude Beach is described as a “light, warm sand.” It’s a light beige with very subtle cool undertones and a frosted, somewhat metallic, finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff, though the texture was soft and smooth, it wasn’t as buttery or as dense as the Ready formula is in general. This shade wore well for nine and a half hours on me before fading. See comparison swatches /
view dupes.

Bare Skin is described as a “copper rose.” It’s a muted, medium copper-brown with a metallic finish and warm undertones. It had good pigmentation, and the texture was fairly soft and smooth. This shade stayed on well for ten hours before starting to fade slightly, though it never creased over the twelve hours I wore it. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Pure is described as a “light, airy peach.” It’s a light, warm-toned beige with a matte finish. It’s almost too light and not quite warm enough to be considered peach to me. It had excellent color payoff, and the texture was incredibly rich and buttery. This shade wore well for just over ten hours on me before it started to fade. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

In the Buff is described as a “light golden peach.” It’s a medium, peach-orange with a frosted, golden shimmer-sheen. It had good pigmentation, and the texture was soft and smooth, while the color blended easily onto the skin and wore well for just over ten and a half hours before it started to fade slightly. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Natural is described as a “light buttery peach.” It’s a light-medium, yellowed peach with a matte finish. It had good color payoff, while the consistency of the powder was soft, finely-milled, and smooth. It was a tiny bit powdery but almost unnoticeable during application. This shade stayed well on the eyelid for ten hours before fading. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Santorini is described as a “burnished taupe.” It’s a medium-dark, golden taupe with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had good color payoff, while the consistency was soft and smooth, though not quite as dense as other shades. The eyeshadow wore well for eleven hours before I noticed some fading. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Skinny Dip is described as a “light, iridescent pink.” It’s a cool-toned, iridescent pink-tinged white with a pearly sheen. It had fairly good pigmentation, while the texture was soft, blendable, but slightly powdery. This shade lasted well when I wore it for ten hours. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

This is beautiful but I feel like I don’t need it since I have all 3 naked palettes.

  2. This is my new favorite palatte! :D So glad to see a review at last! :D

  3. The Bare Minerals eyeshadow palettes are always so well planned and put! I really like that no-fuss matter-of-fact packaging to more frills!

I wonder how they compare to their loose counterparts.

  5. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Amy windycitygirl

When / where is this available? Not on bareminerals.com, etc..

  6. Yawn. Enough with the nudes, already! Everything feels so BTDT lately. I don’t wear an electric eye everyday, or hardly any day, but I’ve definitely had my fill of “naked” for the time being.

  7. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Faiza faiza

This pallete seems to be a good deal but colours are too light for my like

  8. Sigh…sigh….BIG SIGH! I already have The Power Neutrals and a whole lot of other “nudie” palettes but I very much want this beauty. Christine, how would you say this compares to The Power Neutrals – better/worse? It looks cooler but still very neutral. It looks so wantable!

    • Also, Bare Minerals has their original loose shadows in the shades Bare Skin and Nude Beach but I think they’re quite different from these. I can’t wait to check in-store to compare (as I have both loose shadows but loose shadows are so annoying to travel with or work with if you’re in a rush so that won’t deter me). I’m going to have to call Sephora and ask them to phone me when this is available.

I have all the Ready 8 pan palettes and about 300+ of the original loose pots. The colors in this set that share names with their earlier configs are pretty close to spot on. The only color name that I don’t have in loose is Santorini, so that one I can’t speak to. Do keep in mind that most of my loose pots are very early, so there may have been other changes. I am beyond pleased to have some of my original favorites, like Bare Skin, in Ready form.

Also, Iagree with Christine regarding this palette vs. Power Neutrals- PN is more beigey matte taupe leaning, while NB is peachy pink coppery shimmers. I love both.

      • Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Trish TrishB

I’m replying again and I do apologize for that, but I did have another thought. The deeper color they should have included and duped from their loose shadows was called Madras, or perhaps Cashmere, or even Pebble if looking for a matte. I used to wear those with Bare Skin, Nude Beach, and Tan Lines all the time. Don’t even ask me if I want the original set of the 4 queen name shadows in Ready. You’d hear me scream three states away.

    • Power Neutrals is cooler-toned and less frosted – more satins in it than this one, which is fairly frosted!

  9. Chanel

Pretty palette but i can skip on this some of the colors won’t show up on my skin tone sadly. Plus there’re so many nude palettes on the market, at this time of the year I would think companies would change up the colors in the palettes they release. There is such a thing as too many nudes (in my opinion of course) Thank you for the swatches

P.S. Bare skin is a great color!

    • I’m wondering if this was an attempt to go for a warmer set of neutrals, since The Power Neutrals was a little bit cooler-toned (though I wouldn’t say all cool-toned).

      • Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Amy xamyx

From what I understood during the QVC presentation last night, this palette was just a way to put 8 of the most popular, best-selling loose shadows in pan form. It *can* be used as a “grab & go” palette for those wanting a soft wash of color, or as a “base” palette to be used with other shades (particularly shades one may feel is a bit too much); this also explains why it lacks a broader range of shades.

  10. Oh nice! I would have really loved 1 or 2 darker shades. But still a nice set. :-)

Pretty colors, but I have Naked 3, so this is a skip for me.

  12. Courtney

This looks like something i’d like! When does it come out?

    • All I know is that it is on QVC – no official info from bareMinerals, so all the info I have is what was posted on QVC for customers. Sorry!

  13. Tan Lines, Bare Skin and In The Buff are so pretty!

I like this a lot more than their last 8-shadow palette, but about half of these would be highlighting shades (inner corner or brow bone) for me. Still, it is a really, really pretty palette. Tan Lines and Bare Skin are just gorgeous. Undecided. . .

  16. I really love the first nude palette from bareMinerals, so this is one of my next tries for sure! The packaging is always a win with them too!

  17. Pretty! I would almost buy this but it doesn’t have anything that grabs me. My daughter would love this as she’s early into the makeup world (but doing fine reaching into my drawers!).

  18. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Karin Karin

wish it had like one dark brown! then i would be all over this. too bad, but still beautiful!

This palette is so beautiful! Never tried Bareminerals eyeshadows before so I think I need this in my life haha. When will it be available for purchase? Thanks for the amazing review Christine!

  20. asymphonic

Hey Christine! I love your swatches, always, but I think it would be nice to see the whole palette swatched together at the end, just to give a feel of how the shadows look altogether.

Is that something that you could consider including in future posts?

  21. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Monica Monica

When will this be available for purchase on the BM website?

    • Hi Monica,

Unfortunately, I don’t always get information from the brand – I’ll just find a new or interesting product available for sale at retailers like Nordstrom, Sephora, etc. and share the news and/or purchase myself and review. I bought mine off of QVC last week, so I don’t really have any additional information or insight beyond it being available at QVC right now! I’m not seeing any “exclusive” tag on the product listing on QVC so it might roll out at other retailers as well, but I really don’t know.

  22. Pretty eye look but you’re right that it would be well served to include a couple of darker shades and different finishes. How refreshing not to be lusting after a new product!

  24. I ordered this and shipped it back already…the colors all looked too similar on me – there was no way I could have a complete eye look with this palette without using additional shadows and i feel that is a deal breaker for me

  25. Dua

Cute but Pass .. these colors are similar to the Lorac Pro and Naked palettes

  26. Alejandra

Yes.That’s calling my name.I knew this palette was going to get an A.Bare Minerals eyeshadow is one of my favorite formulas.I would dare to say that I like BM eyeshadows over Urban Decay.Underrated, for sure.Definitely picking this up in the next few months.

  27. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Ellen Ellen

I do love all the coppery and bronze shades, but I just got Lorac’s unzipped palette because I found Naked 3 to be too cool toned for me. So I think I have dupes for any of these that I would use. It would be nice to have them all in one place, but probably an unnecessary expense. I just saw this palette on QVC this morning at 9AM, and wished they showed the colors better. Your timing is amazing! They showed a very nich brush set and a large size of their primer/BB cream, I hope you get to those too, because I found them very tempting!

    • You’re probably covered if you have Unzipped! :) For once, I was on time, lol! Usually if I’m buying a product myself, by the time it arrives, I photograph/swatch/test/write (even if I started as soon it arrives), it’s late.

  28. Stephanie

Looks like an excellent pinkier supplement to the Naked 3.
The rose gold shades look like they out-perform trick.

Am I the only one that wanted more rose-goldish colors in their Naked 3?

    • I’m sure you’re not the only one!

    • Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Ellen Ellen

Trick and the matte rose/plum shade were the only shades that I liked in Naked3, and Trick did not show up well, and I have very fair skin. That’s why I returned it and got Lorac’s Unzipped. Those shades are light too, but a little warmer. If I had seen this before I got Unzipped, it would have been a no brainer. Even if I need to add the darker shades, I can add those of my choosing, and these are the basic lid colors I use since they are great redhead colors. And the darker colors in Unzipped were a litle disappointing, the version of the matte rose/plum color that I loved in Naked3 is much lighter in Unzipped. Christines’ review today of MAC’s warm purples showed me that Mac has that color in HAUX. If I had all this info two weekes ago, I would have definitely gotten this Bare Minerals palette and maybe supplemented it with a few darker colors perfect for me instead of settling for those in a palette. But I don’t think I can return Unzipped now, so I may have to pass on this (although don’t keep me to that ! ), and supplement with the MAC shade!

  29. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Ellen Ellen

I just looked at your swatched again and I may have changed my mind. I think I would love to have 3-4 shades of peach/copper in one place. It is my number one eyelid shade (over a matte base color). The light bronzes are nice too, the only one that does not appeal to me is the shimmery pink/lilac, too cool. But I could use it to highlight, too many great choices in palettes this year!

  30. This looks like a really gorgeous palette. I’m fond of all the colours.
Rikki Recently Posted: HOW TO: Blending Eyeshadow for Hooded Eyelids

  31. I think this is a lovely palette for warm toned ladies, however a few light greys would not go astray. If you hadn’t bought yourself a naked palette or the lorac pro palette, this would be good for you. Alas, too many dupable shades and there are lots of neutral palettes in the beauty market now.

  32. Looks really nice on you, Christine!

  33. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Elizabeth Lizzi

This is great for the fair-skinned ladies, I’m a light-medium, but for me it’s a pass. I have too many neutral shade palettes already. And I’ve found my holy grail dream palette for nudes. So I’m gonna pass here.

  34. Ohh, I remember a few years back when Nude Beach was super popular (too bad this version isn’t quite as smooth). I think Bare Skin was another one that people raved about. It’s a pretty palette, though I wish there were a few richer shades. Maybe a darker gold or a deep brown. But overall it’s nice, definitely worth considering

I was so excited to see this!! I sadly
will have to pass on this one, though — some of those shades won’t show up well on my skintone. I think they’ll look beautiful if you’re super pale or on the tanner side.

  38. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of artemis artemis

Pretty shades. A really interesting palette for me would have one matte ivory, one iridiscent ivory, a darker gold, a satin or frosted turquoise, a spring green with golden shimmer, a golden duochrome coral pink, a very dark satin chocolate brown and a dark petrol blue with gold and copper duochrome :D I have those shades from different brands but mostly as monos :D they’d look so cool together, tho

  39. Love this! This is definitely my kind of palette – and I really like the beach theme.

  40. Great swatches! I love palettes like this. They are surprisingly versatile and a great value. I could even do with half the colors.

  41. zainab

Oooh, I like this better than Naked 3. Hopefully it will be available here.

  42. I LOVE the look of this palette! It is so pretty :)

  43. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Alla Alla

This is exactly the sort of palette that calls my name, but I’m going to have to pass over it with sadness. I put myself on a no-more-neutral-palettes ban around the time Narsisst came out because that was when I realized that every brand is going to release some version of a neutral palette, and I could end up spending waaaay too much. At some point, beautiful as it all is, owning a million neutral palettes becomes overkill. :(

  44. Kind of reminds me of a Naked palette but without all the oversparkle/frost

Great neutral palette and I love the size of these! I like it more than The Power Neutrals one they put out because this one is warmer.

  47. Man.. It sold out! And it’s been discontinued on QVC. SO BUMMED!!!!! If you know anyone who has a Nude Beach palette that’s sitting unused and wants to return it.. please send it to me! I will buy it.
