Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow Duos: The Vision

Bare Escentuals bareMinerals The Vision Eyeshadow Duo ($20.00 for 0.10 oz.) contains two shades: Illusion and Mirage. The duo will debut in October, and it’s touted as a solid eyeshadow with SeaNutritive Mineral Complex that is “creamy, silky smooth” with “seamless blendability” and “stay-true color” that is long-wearing when worn alone without creasing or budging. When worn alone, I was able to wear several of the new duos for 10 hours without an eyeshadow primer. For more details on packaging, please read my original review.

Illusion is a pale, sky blue with a near matte finish. It’s very, light and pastel, but it’s not at all chalky–which is hard to do in a shade this light–and the color payoff is excellent. There is no dryness here, just really soft, smooth color.  If I want to be nit picky, there is the faintest amount of powderiness when used heavily, but it doesn’t translate during application, and there is no residual fall out when worn.  It’s a touch lighter but more opaque than MAC Sky Blue, more opaque and less metallic than Giorgio Armani Airy Jade, lighter and brighter than Inglot #367, less shimmered (and more opaque) than Cle de Peau #112, and a touch lighter than Make Up For Ever #150.

Mirage is a subtly red-toned brown with an pale, bluish-teal iridescent sheen. It’s smooth to apply and opaque in color. It’s more subdued than the shades that are, inevitably, still quite similar: Wet ‘n’ Wild Comfort Zone, MAC Double Feature #7 (and also MAC Club, MAC Blue Brown), and Urban Decay Lounge. Mirage is less red-based and comes off grayer in contrast. Overall, it appears darker and more muted, but it is still similar to the aforementioned shades.

Where to Buy: October 2011 at Bare Escentuals, Sephora, $20

The Glossover

A

The duo works well together--the lightness of the blue complements the sheen of the darker shade--and the quality of both shades is amazing. Those with a lot of eyeshadows already may find this particular duo very dupeable, though.

My favorite of the duos in terms of color. I can see some artistic combinations with this duo.

I'd really love to see you do a look with this duo.

Loving the combo and the vividness of that light blue.

I really want this one--it was my favorite in the catalog. There are some great quads too--I also like Showstopper and several of the neutral shades--can't WAIT until October!!

I'm loving these new eyeshadows. Can't wait to see the rest of the colors!

Not as fan of this combo as I am of the two others, but the quality is just great! By the way, Christine, are you going to be doing looks with these, by any chance? I would just love to see them being used in a look :)

when is the blue brown eyeshadow trend going to end? I have so many that I don't even wear because I HATE the colors together I loveee that light blue though

Can't wait to see more of these pallettes from BE!! I love the shades so far, just wishing for some warmer or more neutral duos!

That's a pretty combo, but I wonder why so many cosmetics brands are doing eyeshadow shades just like Club (MAC even has 3 different versions). I originally got Too Faced Label Whore because I thought it was such a unique shade. However, it only applies as a reddish-brown on my eyelids w/ no noticeable teal duochrome. That was disappointing.

Beautiful! My first thought was that Mirage reminded me of MAC Club, would you say they are similar? Thanks!

she says it in the review...

MAC has a pigment just like that brown color, and Make up Forever does too (its a star powder). I have the star powder and urban decay's Narcotic eyeshadow and can dupe this look. Gonna try it!!!

So far I'm not really feeling any of the colors offered in these duos, which is too bad because the formula looks amazing! I'm keeping my eyes peeled...

This looks exciting! Can't wait to try it out! Thanks Christine for the review! :)
