Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals The Enlightenment Eyeshadow Duo
Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals The Enlightenment Eyeshadow Duo
New for October, Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals The Enlightenment Eyeshadow Duo ($20.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a neutral-hued compact that features Guru and Namaste. Bare Escentuals’ pressed eyeshadow formula contains SeaNutritive Mineral Complex that gives the shadow a “creamy, silky smooth” texture with “seamless blendability” and “stay-true color.” It’s supposed to be long-wearing whether worn alone or with primer–you shouldn’t see any creasing or fading. I’ve tested various combinations of shades from the duos and quads, and I’ve happily achieved ten hours of solid wear without a primer underneath. For a review of the packaging, please read my original review.
Guru is a soft, neutral light brown with only a hint of warmth–more of a champagne-beige warmth than truly golden. The finish has subtle shimmer, giving it a satin-like appearance. It’s only a couple of shades darker than my forearm (which is around NC20 I’d say). It reminds me of a yellower MAC Patina. The texture was soft and smooth without being powdery.
Namaste is a light-medium, cool-toned brown with a near-matte finish. It was a silky-smooth feel with great color payoff. It’s a bit darker than Burberry Almond and less warm compared to MAC Wedge.
Where to Buy: October 2011 at Bare Escentuals, Sephora, $20
The Glossover
For a soft set of neutrals, this duo would be great for quick, five-minute looks, especially when traveling. The finishes are softer, as are the colors themselves.

Product & Review FAQ
Where can I purchase Enlightenment? How much is it?
October 2011 at Bare Escentuals, Sephora, and other locations where bareMinerals is sold, $20.
Is it limited edition?
No.
Any dupes?
See individual shade descriptions above.
Is namaste similar to buck eyeshadow from the naked palette? I was just wondering, because I own the naked palette, and that colour may be my most used color and i don't wanna hit pan on it
I love the girls but I don't think I'll buy this eyeshadow duo because it reminds me of Naked and Buck from the Naked Palette.
The titles on the photos for this section are wrong...they all say just the name of the set - not the individual colors where that is what is in the photo.
In the first photos, they both look so warm but in the closeup and swatches, much less so, and so more wearable and appealing to me but I've got so many similar shades so this is a "leave it" for me.
I enjoy those colors, for a quick & simple everyday makeup. Never tries eyeshadows by Bare Escentuals, but I might change my mind!
I appreciate that the quality seems to be good, but so many of these colors are just so...uninteresting. It's a good place for a launch, to start I suppose, but a lot of women (make-up junkies or not) are going to have a lot of these colors and I think they may need something more unique to attract a bigger crowd.
Wow! Bare Escentuals is going the give great eyeshadow companies like Urban Decay and theBalm (among others) a run for their money. I am truly impressed with all the eyeshadows Christine has reviewed. I am definitely gonna create my wishlist soon. I am very excited.
I can see myself buying this because it would be so useful! I have fair skin and blonde hair and "Namaste" looks like it would be perfect for my light brows. Great every day eyeshadow.
I like this! These are colors I know I would use on a daily basis, so I'll have to check this duo out. Thanks for the review, Christine! :-)
