Anna Kendrick @ 2010 Academy Awards
Ohh, I really love this dress! It’s so feminine and elegant–the way it opens is beautiful. Her makeup suits it as well; it’s noticeable but not overwhelming.
Makeup Breakdown
Celebrity makeup artist Sarah Glick was inspired by, “Youthful, ethereal beauty–think soft, natural glowing skin.”
- Prep: “Anna has beautiful skin and doesn’t need much to make it glow. I prepped her skin with a light, all natural moisturizer to help it stay hydrated throughout the night.” Prepped with Arcona’s Magic White Ice to protect, nourish and hydrate skin. Magic White Ice. “Anna has amazing youthful, flawless skin, so it is all about revealing her natural beauty. I used TEMPTU RETOUCH highlighter in Champagne to eyelids, cheeks, nose and any other planes that pick up light to highlight, ” says Glick.
- Cheeks: “For a natural flush, I accented Anna’s cheek bones with a coral shade.” Dabbed and blended tarte’s natural cheek stain in eco-cheek on the apples of her cheeks.
- Lips: “I wanted to create a soft, healthy pink lip with a touch of shine. LipSurgence natural lip stain in charmed topped with tarte’s double-ended natural lipglosses in jake & samantha (used the Samantha side–pale cotton candy pink) for added shine.
- Finish: “I finished with a light spritz of lavender mist for added hydration and an extra dose of calming with aromatherapy.” Set the look with Arcona’s Lavendar Hydrasol for a fresh and dewy complexion.
Hair How-to
Anna Kendrick wore a romantic blush-colored Eli Saab gown on the Oscar red carpet, complimented by an effortlessly elegant, modern updo designed by stylist Craig Gangi.
Gangi, inspired by the graceful off-the-shoulder look, created an updo highlighting softly waved texture accenting healthy hair with natural-looking shine. He first applied argan oil-infused Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream to add moisture and give hair a soft hold that was smooth as well as frizz-free and static-free.
After blow-drying hair straight, Gangi used a medium sized curling iron to create loose, natural waves. He then pulled strands back, leaving just enough hair at the nape of the neck to create a small ponytail, and shaped a loose, undone textured bun.
To add a touch of drama, he went back to weave three small braids with the remaining hair, then again braided the three with each other. Finally he circled the braid around the bun. After pinning the style, he sprayed Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray to hold the look in place without stiffness, and misted the final updo with Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray for additional boost of red carpet shine.
Love it or hate it?
See the dress!

I just can't get over this look! Anna Kendrick is soooo gorgeous in this! I love everything about it - the dress, its color, the makeup, the hair, the shoes! Definitely my fave Oscars2010 look!
Oh, what a gorgeous dress! And her hair, skin, smile, eyes, etc. Well, each was simply lovely. Very beautiful, refined lady. Now about those shoes. She might as well have worn Chuck Taylors. That's how inappropriate those, um, whatever it was she had on her feet were.
Utterly feminine! Hair, make-up, dress--it's the whole package. I like the bit of lace on the slit. It's a bit of a tease; like looking at her slip without it coming off as trashy.
This was my FAVORITE dress of the night. Her skin could have used a little glow though. But otherwise, she looks FABULOUS!
She's radiant and a great example that you don't need to be orange to be hot in Hollywood! However the colour of the dress blends in too much with her skin (although the whole nude thing is on trend) and I think a side part in her hair could have been more fitting.
overall, i think she looks lovely, but no one this year comes close to how stunning taraji and eva looked in their white dresses last year (i think at the golden globes and the SAG??)
GORGEOUS! im glad i finally see people that are light skinned like me, and arent into the tan look. she look stunning , and although the dress is a little too light for her i still think she pulls it off=)
Very understated but nice and girly. Noticable how few women brought out the bronzer this year..... Nice! I love a pale skin on women!
I think she looks really pretty. The dress is very feminine and pretty.....maybe a bit too mature for her but not sure about that. Her hair and make up go with it nicely. She looks ethereal and goddess like.........
She looks really beautiful but I wish she had gone for more color in her dress. I like her hair though :)
I love the dress, it compliments her nicely. It looks like the dress is an extension of her skin, such a perfect match to her skin color. Love her subtle make-up.
The only thing I wish this had was some kind of different color variation, it appears to be nude, nude nude, nude, nude. makes me feel kinda, blah.
I love Anna's dress and makeup! I have to say that the shoes weren't a good choice with a dress that pretty and romantic.
I love the hair, the makeup, the dress, but I hate the shoes, they look a bit cheap for the red carpet.
That dress is gorgeous as is she. But I don't like that color on her, way to close to her skintone. If it was a bit darker pink or any other color I'd be in love with it!
Her make up is lovely ...not feeling the dress it appears to wash out her skin tone....IMO.....but love her!
WOW, she looks absolutely stunning. I love that hair, makeup, dress, everything. She's one of my most respected young actresses, its so sad that she's known mostly to the public as the person who played the ditzy/mean girl in Twilight. Gah....
