Angelina Jolie @ Oscars 2009 Beauty Breakdown

Angelina Jolie @ Academy Awards 2009
Get the Look
Angelina Jolie looked stunning in a black strapless Elie Saab gown paired with beautiful emerald-colored jewels which added a striking burst of color. Celebrity makeup artist Mary Burton created Angelina’s flawless look. Mary applied Le Crayon Khôl in Black Ebony to the upper and lower lash lines. She emphasized the shape of Angelina’s eyes by applying more liner to the outer corners of the eye. Several coats of Ôscillation Mascara were applied to the upper lashes for added volume and length. Mary put a touch of pink to the cheeks using Shu Uemura Blush in M Pink 31 and applied it to her cheekbones near the temple. To create ultra-shiny and luminous lips, Mary used Juicy Tubes in Spring Fling.
Get the Hair
To achieve this romantic cascade of curls, I sprayed Angie’s entire head with David Babaii for WildAid Bohemian Beach Spray and scrunched it into the hair (this gives just the right texture and hold).
Next, I dried her hair by dividing her tresses into 3 sections: top, sides and back leaving the nape area free. Taking small sections starting at the nape, I used the David Babaii for WildAid Blow Dryer with the nozzle attachment and finish the drying process with a large round brush to smooth hair straight. At the crown area, I sprayed David Babaii for WildAid Volcanic Ash Root Amplifier to the root area and down the hair shaft. Then, I dried this section with a jumbo round brush to add lift and volume.
Once dry, I sectioned the hair again using the same sectioning process as I did for blow drying. Using the David Babaii for WildAid Styling Iron, I once again sectioned the hair into 3 sections: top, sides and back leaving the nape area free. To curl, use the Styling Iron to create “ribbon curls” by taking small “V” shaped sections. To achieve, I wrapped the hair around and inside the styling iron close to the scalp area and pull the iron down (similar to curling ribbon).
After curling the entire head, I smoothed some of the curls with a brush while leaving some intact. At the crown area, I back-brushed the hair at the scalp area only, sprayed some additional Volcanic Ash Root Amplifier and gently smoothed the surface not to remove too much of the back-brushing. Next, to create her half-up, half down look, I brushed the sides up and back and secured with pins. To complete the back, I ran my fingers up several curls to create volume and variations in texture. For a long but natural lasting hold, I used David Babaii for WildAid Mise en Plis Light Styling Spray.
Styling Tip: Why so much sectioning? It is vital to have constant control of your hair at all times. You will never miss an area or a section.

Honestly…..a little boring to look at. I think she is stunningly gorgeous – but somehow you’ve gotten use to seing her.
She’s so gorgeous with so little makeup. She’s the one person who looks absolutely beautiful with no makeup, jeans, a tank top and a ponytail.
Those emerald earrings with the black dress was perfect. Natalie Portman looked really nice too!
too much make-up – i’ve seen her look alot better…this pic really shows her age and wrinkles! I guess she is human after all…
I just love that pic because of the wrinkles. In fact I did a post about that fact myself with a link to this post, since I feel that those wrinkles do not make her less beautiful at all. She looks gorgeous!
I think her laugh lines are wonderful. I don’t like her foundation – it looks a bit too dark and heavy for her, maybe a bit more pop on her cheeks would have changed this. I also don’t buy this “mascara” applications — she has falsies on! She usually does for every big occasion (sometimes they are not applied perfectly either). As everybody else, she is getting older and did look a bit tired in this pic.
That’s exactly what is wrong…..but who the hell wouldn’t look tired with so many kids…. ha ha ha
Beautiful look, fantastic emerald-colored jewels, her ear-rings caught my eyes trew all ceremony and also nice dress!
Love the dress and earrings, but have to say the makeup is a bit boring for me. She may very well look gorgeous in just jeans and a tank top, but this is the Oscars. At the very least some colored shadow or a lippie with some color would have looked good. You can use some color and still be subtle (see Nicole Kidman below, whose makeup artist got it just right I think).
I’m really sick of her and her life on camera. While she’s attractive, she’s cold as ice and it shows. It’s a big turnoff and I find it’s hard to wish good things for one who acts as she acts.
Real beauty should come from within and Ms. Jolie doesn’t have that.
BTW, I thought the jewelry was over-the-top. They just jumped out and overpowered a really nice, classy look.
PRETTY! PRETTY! PRETYY! *screams*
She looked a-MAZINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!
Really boring make up!! She needs more colour… or maybe I’m watching too many youtube make up videos…lol hmmmm but I still think she needs more colour!
Where did she get the earrings, thats all we want to know???
OMG they were fabulous!
BORING! She wears the SAME makeup to every event!! She should spice it up with a pop of color sometime.
I’m starting to believe that the list of products used is really not what was used and more a ‘buy this’. I would think doing Oscar makeup is more detailed than a tinted moisturizer and a couple coats of mascara. Someone brought up an interesting point on Vanessa H’s look. Foundation with SPF would reflect in the pictures. And indeed, AJ is wearing falsies.
Come on.. she hit the carpet wearing only a Juicy tube? I don’t go to the grocery store without some lip color. I feel like I’m seeing a lip liner there.
Wouldn’t you be doing some conturing and highlighting for such an event?
Angie’s look is not as exciting as it could be but this year the makeup wasn’t dramatic.. IMHO.
BTW. I love her “lines and wrinkles”. I’m older than her. lol I don’t actually feel like she has enough to mention.
Jen out classed Jolie by far! The general public see her as an asset instead of a cheating ass, no moral, pot smoking, baby buying for publicity, heroin, tatoo toting skank! Jen rocks! Many many people pay to see her movies, that can’t be said for the Pittiful and his sidekick who many have banned!
Although everyone’s entitled to their opinion, showing one’s ignorance and lack of respect for other people invalidates your own opinion. Check out Blady and how he/she has attacked Angelina under the guise of protecting Jennifer.
Ridiculous.
Angelina is stunning but I think her black strapless look this year was too predictable. I would like to see her wearing “colour” for a change.
As for the wrinkles, aging is part of life so get off her case people! I wonder how many of you have flawless skin!
With respect to her huge family, I agree, maybe it does have her a bit tired. But, I think what she and Brad is doing by giving loving homes to these orphans is simply amazing and selfless.
I love Brangelina and I hope they keep up the good work!
Ooooooh…. *sigh*
Her earrings! <3
