Estee Lauder Empowered Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick
Estee Lauder Empowered Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick

Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.10 oz.) is supposed to be a medium coverage, hydrating lipstick with a “luminous shine.” They have semi-opaque to mostly opaque coverage with a luminous finish. Some shades have a faint pearl shimmer, but the shimmer is hard to detect when worn (I wouldn’t describe them as shimmery, for example). The wear time ranges from four to six hours, and the formula is hydrating while worn. The texture is more balm-like with some tackiness, but it’s comfortable to wear. I couldn’t detect any scent or taste from the formula.

Estee Lauder Empowered Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a brightened, orange-red with warm undertones and very fine pink pearl paired with a luminous shine. It had mostly opaque coverage with a light translucency, so the natural lip color can peek through, but it is still a fair amount of coverage. This shade lasted for six hours and was hydrating while worn. Chanel Arthur (440) (P, $36.00) is less glossy. Urban Decay Sheer Slowburn (P, $20.00) is less glossy. Tom Ford Beauty Diego (LE, $32.00) is more matte. MAC Excite (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Charlotte Tilbury Love Bite (P, $32.00) is redder. MAC Fashion Trip (LE, $22.00) is more shimmery. Bite Beauty Grandifolia (LE, $28.00) is brighter. Estee Lauder Envious (P, $30.00) is cooler-toned. Tom Ford Beauty Firecracker (06) (LE, $50.00) is lighter. MAC Cherry Glaze (LE, $20.00) is redder. Too Faced Red Stiletto (P, $22.00) is redder. Givenchy Carmin Escarpin (306) (P, $36.00) is more orange. NARS Future Red (LE, $26.00) is redder. Maybelline Vibrant Mandarin (P, $7.49) is more orange. Guerlain Gilda (P, $51.00) is more shimmery. Guerlain Genna (P, $51.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Estee Lauder Heavenly Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a softened, medium orange with pink-red tones and fine tangerine shimmer. This was one of the more shimmery shades that I tried. It had semi-opaque color payoff that covered evenly and gave lips a smoother, more rounded look. The color lasted for four and a half hours, and it felt moisturizing while worn. Chanel Sari Dore (414) (P, $36.00) is more orange. Gucci Beauty Fever (P, $39.00) is lighter, less glossy. Tom Ford Beauty Sweet Spot (05) (P, $50.00) is lighter. MAC Dreaming Dahlia (LE, $16.00) is lighter, sheerer. MAC Fashion Force (LE, $20.00) is cooler-toned, less shimmery, sheerer. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Estee Lauder Mischievous Rose Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a light pink with neutral-to-warm undertones and a creamy, lightly glossy finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation, but the lighter color of this shade made it prone to applying unevenly–it’s not as bad as the worst offenders, but it is one of the lesser shades that I tried in the range. It lasted for four hours and was moderately hydrating when worn. MAC Catty (LE, $16.00) is cooler-toned. Chanel Olga (422) (P, $36.00) is sheerer. Chanel Vera (420) (P, $36.00) is sheerer. Maybelline Blushing Bud (705) (P, $7.49) is brighter, pinker. MAC Dream Daze (LE, $22.00) is similar. MAC Soft Savour (LE, $16.00) is more matte. Chanel Intime (93) (P, $35.00) is lighter. Givenchy Nude Guipure (106) (P, $36.00) is darker. Estee Lauder Impulsive (P, $30.00) is slightly darker. Tom Ford Beauty Summer Fling (04) (LE, $50.00) is pinker. YSL Nude Beige (1) (P, $34.00) is lighter. Too Faced Taffy (P, $22.00) is similar. MAC Shy Shine (P, $16.00) is more shimmery. Guerlain Gabrielle (P, $51.00) is more shimmery. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Cle de Peau Baby Universe (303) Eye Color Quad
Cle de Peau Baby Universe (303) Eye Color Quad

Cle de Peau Baby Universe (303) Eye Color Quad ($55.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a more mid-tone set of warm-toned neutrals that’s also a bit less frosted than some of the quads in the range. The major upside to the Cle de Peau formula is how blendable and silky in feel it is, which makes it easy to apply to the lid, and the formula adheres well to the skin without a primer. I liked this quad, but it’s certainly dupable as there are so many neutral quads and palettes to choose from these days.

Also, keep in mind that the price is for the refill only; the case is sold separately ($25). I keep mine in Z-Palettes with a magnetic strip on the back, which has worked just fine for me! Another way to do it is to purchase one case for traveling with a particular quad but not a case for each and every one you may have.

Baby Universe #1 is a muted, medium-dark brown with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a really silky, soft powder consistency, but it was a little powdery to work with. It lasted for seven and a half hours on me. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Baby Universe #2 is a light-medium, peach with warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had good color coverage paired with a soft, silky texture that applied well and sat beautifully on the skin. The shade stayed on well for eight hours. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Baby Universe #3 is a muted, medium-dark purpled taupe with warm undertones and a satin sheen. It had so-so pigmentation with a soft, blendable texture that was a smidgen powdery. It lasted for eight hours before fading. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Baby Universe #4 is a muted, medium-dark brown with warm, reddish undertones and a frosted finish. It had excellent pigmentation with a really smooth, buttery texture that was so easy to work with. It wore well for eight and a half hours before creasing slightly. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Surratt Lip Lustres
Surratt Lip Lustres

Surratt Au Naturelle Lip Lustre ($32.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is described as a “universal neutral with a kiss of gold.” It’s a peachy-orange brown with faint gold shimmer over a mostly creamy finish. It had semi-opaque coverage (not quite the sheer as described), but the milky quality of the gloss really came through with noticeable settling into lip lines. The texture is thick and tacky, and the cream finish gives it a slightly goopier feel and look. It wore well for four and a half hours on me and was lightly hydrating. Urban Decay Kinky (P, $22.00) is darker. Maybelline Citrus Evolution (115) (LE, $8.99) is warmer. Chanel Sensuel (11) (P, $34.00) is similar. MAC Grand Pumpkin (LE, $15.00) is darker, warmer. NYX Cherry Cheesecake (P, $5.00) is darker, brighter. MAC Live It Up (LE, $15.00) is brighter. Maybelline Charming Cocoa (125) (LE) is pinker. MAC Overspiced (LE, $15.00) is lighter. Maybelline Nude Illusion (060) (P, $8.99) is similar. MAC Fashion Punch (LE, $15.00) is slightly darker. Chanel Genie (P, $32.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Surratt Ensoleille Lip Lustre ($32.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is described as a “reflective rose bronze.” It’s a muted, medium-dark orange-brown with pink and gold shimmer and sparkle. It had semi-sheer color payoff that covered evenly and looked smooth and glossy on the lips. It wore well for five hours and was hydrating. Revlon HD Amber (555) (P, $8.99) is more shimmery. MAC Ray of Sunshine (P, $22.00) is less shimmery. Maybelline Glistening Amber (055) (P, $8.99) is similar. MAC Imperial Light (P, $20.00) is less shimmery, redder. Burberry Cameo (P, $29.00) is slightly more muted. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Surratt Flamant Lip Lustre ($32.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is described as a “flamingo coral.” It’s a brightened, medium coral-orange with warm undertones and a cream finish. There is the barest hint of pink shimmer in it, but you can hardly see it applied. The gloss was semi-opaque when applied, but it went on smoothly and evenly. The thicker consistency seemed to help it fill lip lines and give lips a plumper look. It wore well for five hours on me and was hydrating over time. Urban Decay Punch Drunk (P, $22.00) is darker. MAC Barbecue (LE, $15.00) is darker. Gucci Beauty Crushed Coral (P, $32.00) is darker, more muted. Hourglass Muse (P, $28.00) is brighter, pinker. NYX Cherry Cheesecake (P, $5.00) is lighter. NARS Wonder (P, $26.00) is brighter, more orange. MAC Teen Dream (LE, $20.00) is similar. MAC Cheerful (P, $22.00) is more muted. Milani Coral Crush (10) (P, $5.49) is lighter. MAC Ablaze (LE, $15.00) is darker. Burberry Brick Red (P, $29.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Estee Lauder Blossom Bright Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick
Estee Lauder Blossom Bright Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick

Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.10 oz.) is supposed to be a medium coverage, hydrating lipstick with a “luminous shine.” They seem to be designed as a sheerer, glossier option but based on the Pure Color Envy Sculpting formula. They’re not much sheerer, but they have a lighter look to them as they have some translucency (coverage is closer to mostly opaque, though) with a glossier, shinier finish. Some shades have faint pearly shimmer but some have next to none.

The texture of these has a little more cling to me, but not in a drying kind of way, but there’s a little tackiness that keeps them wearing longer than the average glossy lipstick would. They are lightly creamy and tend to “melt” as you apply them, so they soften as they heat up against the lip. I found them to be moderately hydrating and comfortable to wear. Curiously, the formula is unscented (and no taste either), but the original Sculpting lipsticks were vanilla-scented, while the majority of Estee Lauder’s lip color line is fig-scented, so it’s an interesting development–a happy one for anyone who prefers unscented.

Estee Lauder Blossom Bright Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.10 oz.) is brightened, medium-dark pink-coral with warm undertones and a creamy, lightly glossy finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage with a veil of translucency. The color wore well for almost six hours, and it was nicely hydrating over time. Colour Pop Frenemie (LE, $5.00) is more matte, warmer. Maybelline Coral Burst (740) (P, $7.49) is lighter. Guerlain Rouge Kiss (325) (P, $37.00) is warmer. Guerlain Geneva (48) (P, $51.00) is warmer. Dior Sunset (660) (LE, $34.00) is more shimmery. Estee Lauder Defiant Coral (P, $30.00) is warmer. Givenchy Rose Dressing (202) (P, $36.00) is lighter. Maybelline Shocking Coral (P, $7.49) is similar. Guerlain Gracy (P, $51.00) is pinker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Estee Lauder Charmed Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a muted, light-medium pink-coral with a very subtle gold pearl and luminous finish. It had semi-opaque coverage that covered fairly evenly and smoothly. The color stayed on well for four and a half hours, and the formula felt hydrating while worn. Estee Lauder Surreal Sun (P, $30.00) is brighter, pinker. MAC Call the Hairdresser! (LE, $16.00) is less glossy. Bite Beauty Heather (P, $28.00) is warmer. Estee Lauder Eccentric (P, $30.00) is lighter, brighter. Estee Lauder Rebellious Rose (P, $30.00) is darker, pinker. Too Faced Coral Fire (P, $22.00) is more matte. Urban Decay Protest (P, $22.00) is warmer. Urban Decay Liar (P, $22.00) is warmer. NYX Haute Melon (P, $4.00) is sheerer. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Estee Lauder Inspiring Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a slightly muted, medium-dark pink-plum with subtle, warm undertones and a luminous sheen. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque coverage that went on evenly and smoothly. This shade seemed to be true to the “medium coverage” part of the formula, but it is buildable to slightly more opaque color if desired. It lasted for five hours and was moderately hydrating over time. MAC Gospel (LE, $16.00) is darker. Bite Beauty Rhubarb (P, $24.00) is warmer. Too Faced Pink Chocolate (P, $22.00) is warmer. MAC Candy Apple (LE, $17.00) is brighter. Chanel Ce Soir (P, $34.00) is lighter, more muted. Buxom Hooligan (P, $21.00) is warmer. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Estee Lauder Intriguing Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.10 oz.) is medium-dark, plum-berry with fine violet pearl and a soft shine. This shade was less glossy compared to the other three. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that went on evenly for the most part, but more surprisingly, the color really didn’t pull into lip lines; there’s enough tackiness and thickness to the formula that seems to minimize the chance of this happening. It wore well for five hours on me and was lightly hydrating. Urban Decay Sheer Shame (P, $20.00) is lighter. Bite Beauty Aubergine (P, $24.00) is darker, cooler-toned, more matte. MAC Splurge (LE, $22.00) is cooler-toned, lighter. Estee Lauder Insolent Plum (P, $30.00) is darker, cooler-toned, brighter. YSL Exquisite Plum (22) (P, $34.00) is cooler-toned. Buxom Moonlighter (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery. Guerlain Madame Batifole (860) (LE, $51.00) is more opaque, brighter. Chanel Esprit (88) (LE, $35.00) is lighter. Chanel Fiction (P, $35.00) is lighter. MAC Lush Life (P, $22.00) is cooler-toned. Guerlain Lou-Ling (LE, $35.00) is cooler-toned. Guerlain Guet-Apens (P, $37.00) is slightly cooler. Burberry Bright Plum (15) (P, $30.00) is more matte. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
