Celebrity hairstylist Helena Faccenda created Heidi Klum’s hot hairstyles for The 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Helena created six different hair looks for Heidi throughout the course of the night, to compliment each outfit change. Here are tips on recreating the looks!
Red Carpet Look
“I really felt like the dress was very late 60’s early 70’s inspired,” says Helena. “I wanted to give Heidi a Bridgette Bardot inspired ponytail with an elegant edge.”
To get the look: Little to no product is needed to create this look, other than a drop serum that helps to reduce the frizz. First, Helena blew Heidi’s hair out with a blowdryer. Once dry, she used a wide (about 1.5 inch) barrel curling iron. Once the curls were set, Helena blew about 60-70% of the curl out of Heidi’s hair to create a soft wave. Then, she pulled Heidi’s hair back into a low, loose ponytail. Taking hair underneath the nape of Heidi’s neck, Helena pulled the pieces so the top crown of her head had volume. Helena wrapped a small section of hair around the elastic, pinning the top of the ponytail and the hair covering the elastic to Heidi’s head, securing the bump and creating an elegant, easy-to-do look.

Tuxedo Look
When Heidi came in from the Red Carpet, Helena brushed out the low ponytail and put it into an extremely loose, simple ponytail. She wanted it really loose so Heidi could pull the elastic easily with one finger and transition from the tuxedo look to the glamorous sequin romper she was wearing underneath. “I wanted the hair to look clean and elegant, like a hair commercial. The hair was very inspired by Veronica Lake.
The Dior Buttercream Dress
“We went back to the Bardot ponytail because the structure and beauty of the top of the dress required little to no hair framing the face,” advises Helena.
The One Shoulder Black & White Dress
“This dress was very modern so I wanted something very clean, structured and elegant.” Since there was little time between outfit changes, Helena decided to create a tight bun by taking Heidi’s ponytail from the previous look, wrapping it around her hair elastic and pinning tightly to Heidi’s head. “It only took two minutes!” exclaimed Helena.
The Leopard Chiffon Gown
Unpinning Heidi’s sleek bun, Helena vigorously brushed Heidi’s hair in an upward direction to bring more volume to the wave of her hair. Taking two sections above Heidi’s ears, Helena rolled the sections of hair from front to back of her head. The two sections were secured with tiny clear elastics at the back of her head and was completed with a bit of Victoria’s Secret Shine Spray.
Michael Kors Blue Dress
This hair stayed the same for the rest of the evening. First, Helena took out of the two sections of hair she rolled back. Then, she went over Heidi’s hair with a blowdryer and round brush, smoothing the hair into a Veronica Lake inspired look. Creating a side part, Helena pulled the front bang loosely behind the ear, pinning to secure the look. For a modernized look, Helena suggest making the side bang flatter against your head.
